The last show in the heart of Sao Paulo with the afro-brazilian group ILÚ OBÁ
Last but not least, the Bloco Malagasy's last show was with the Afro-Brazilian women’s bloco Ilú Obá and took place in the heart of São Paulo. Surrounded by a crowd of surprised pedestrians, the city centre stopped for a couple of incredible hours during which the two batucada groups played together.
La dernière, mais pas des moindres, représentation de la Bloco Malagasy a eu lieu avec la batucada de femmes Afro-Brésiliennes Ilú Obá en plein cœur de São Paulo. Entourées d’une foule de piétons surpris, le centre-ville s’est arrêté pour écouter les rythmes joués par les deux groupes de batucada.

A great way to finish an average day at work
It was 5pm when the majority of people in São Paulo returned from work and the Bloco Malagasy started playing their rhythms in the busy public space of Praça da Sé where the cathedral is located. Hundreds of São Paulistans cheered and danced to the young Malagasy women’s rhythms during a great, hour long show: energy, drums and joy !

Bloco Malagasy with the french bloco Batuka VI in Sao Paulo
The young French percussionists of the Batuka VI group shared their enthusiasm with the women of the Bloco Malagasy during their meeting in Brazil's economic capital. The two batucada groups played together in front of hundreds of people before talking and sharing their emotions over a lovely meal. What a great first day in Sao Paulo!
Les jeunes percussionnistes français du groupe Batuka VI ont transmis leur énergie aux filles de la Bloco Malagasy lors de leur rencontre à la capitale économique du Brésil. Les deux groupes de batucada ont joué ensemble devant des centaines de personnes et ont ensuite échangé beaucoup d’émotions et de discussions autour d’un repas. Recette parfaite pour un premier jour inoubliable à Sao Paulo !The Bloco Malagasy recording their rhythms and songs in the studio of Pracatum, the music school leaded by the great artist Carlihnos Brown.
While with the percussion teacher of Olodum and Pracatum, Jose Izquierdo, the girls of the Bloco Malagasy had the great opportunity of recording 12 of their rhythms and songs in Pracatum's (the music school lead by the great artist Carlihnos Brown in Salvador de Bahia) studio.
Everything will soon be compiled into a new album. The album will include collaborations with other Brazilian artists and members of the Pracatum project.
To be able to record an album in the city where batucada originates is truly the icing on the cake for the Bloco Malagasy!

d’enregistrer douze de leurs rythmes et chansons dans le studio de
l’école de musique Pracatum, fondé par l’immense artiste Carlihnos Brown
à Salvador de Bahia.
Le tout sera bientôt compilé dans un nouvel album, en collaboration avec d’autres artistes brésiliens membres du projet Pracatum.

Bloco Malagasy with the Project of Ilé Aiyé in Salvador de Bahia
The Bloco Malagasy couldn't have left the city of Salvador de Bahia without visiting the Ilé Aiyé project which is the first bloco fighting for the rights of Brazil's Afro-descendant and black population. The young Malagasy women received a wonderful welcome from the school's pupils and several artists in the professional group!
La Bloco Malagasy ne pouvait pas quitter Salvador de Bahia sans rencontrer le groupe Ilé Aiyé qui est le premier groupe de batucada à lutter en faveur des droits des afro-descendants et de la population noire brésilienne. Quel superbe accueil ont reçu les jeunes femmes Malagasy de la part des élèves de l’école et de plusieurs artistes du groupe professionnel !

Music for education with Projeto Axe in Salvador de Bahia
Dance and drums matched perfectly in the meeting between the young women of NGO Bel Avenir's Bloco Malagasy and the members of Projeto Axé, an NGO in Salvador de Bahia that also uses art and music for educational purposes.
La combinaison de la danse et des percussions a été parfaite lors de la
rencontre entre les jeunes femmes de la Bloco Malagasy et les membres de
Projeto Axé, ONG de Salvador de Bahia utilisant également l’art et la
musique au service de l’éducation.

High quality music in the Cultural Center Fusion
The Bloco Malagasy had the pleasure of playing with
some of Salvador de Bahia's most prominent artists on Sunday
27th of July.
The group of girls from Tuléar opened an afternoon of afro-Brazilian
music accompanied by the group Anitchiê and the artists Bira Reis and Edilson
Araujo.
Le
dimanche 27 juillet, la Bloco Malagasy a eu le plaisir de jouer avec
certains des artistes les plus en vue à Salvador de Bahia.
Le
groupe de jeunes filles, venu de Toliara, a ouvert un après-midi de
musique afro-brésilienne accompagné du groupe Anitchiê, et des artistes
Bira Reis et Edilson Araujo.

Purificayé and Bloco Malagasy, two social projects united in Salvador
In the interior of Bahia, the
percussion group Purificayé of the social project Buscapé which is a part of NGO Vida Brasil
arrived for a day of sharing in Salvador with the Bloco Malagasy.
The two
groups were accompanied by other associations of the city such as Boiada multicor, Oficina de Investigação Musical and Centro de Reabilitação e Prevenção de Deficiências das Obras Sociais Irmã Dulce (OSID) http://www.irmadulce.org.br/obrassociais/saude_cDeficiencias.php . Each project had the opportunity to explain their objectives and speak of what their lives are like on a daily basis.
The director of NGO Bel Avenir, Jose Luis Guirao and
the leader of the Bloco Malagasy, Toky Florette, explained the Bloco Malagasy's social goals which predominantly concentrate around the prevention of teenage pregnancy.

un jour d'échange avec la Bloco Malagasy à Salvador.
Les deux groupes
